Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where casino gambling is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel compound that contains a number of luxuries on top of the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
