Cambodia Casinos
There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den betting is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge casino, contains 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous amenities aside from the casino, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
